Public Policy Preference Survey (Closed to participants September 4, 2014)

  • Purpose: To examine the emotional and mental processes that underlie people’s public policy preferences.
  • What you will do: You will be assigned to one of five policy areas (counterterrorism, gun ownership, illegal immigration, sexual minority rights, welfare) and asked questions that measure how you think and feel about the most affected by these policies. You will also be asked to state whether you would approve or disapprove of specific policy measures if they were enacted by the government.
  • Duration: Approximately 10-15 minutes.
  • Prize eligibility: Entry to win a $25, $50 or $100 Visa gift card

Intergroup Evaluation Survey 2014 (Closed to participants on July 10, 2014)

  • Purpose: To examine the effect of question wording and formatting on people’s responses to our scales.
  • What you will do: You will be evaluate social groups that you have selected on a variety of items. You will be randomly assigned to complete items that are formatted a specific way.
  • Duration: Approximately 15 minutes.
  • Prize eligibility: Entry to win a $25, $50 or $100 Visa gift card

Policy Preference Survey—Pilot (Closed to participants on June 6, 2014)

  • Purpose: To help us eventually construct a scale of policy measure preference.
  • What you will do: You will be randomly assigned to one of six policy areas (abortion, guns, illegal immigration, sexual minority rights, counterterrorism, welfare) and then presented with up to 11 policy measures. You will be asked to state whether you approve or disapprove of the policy measure.
  • Duration: Approximately 5-10 minutes.
